Requests such as “weatherproof,” “rustproof,” or “high load” are too broad for procurement. Useful testing begins with the product, material system, climate, installation, expected users, test method, duration, and pass criteria. The same test is not appropriate for every wooden playset, metal bracket, rope, plastic accessory, or coating.
Weathering
Define whether the concern is ultraviolet exposure, water cycling, humidity, temperature change, fungal risk, coating adhesion, checking, fading, or dimensional movement. Review drainage, end-grain sealing, ground clearance, and maintenance instructions alongside laboratory or field tests.
Corrosion
Specify the metal, coating stack, fasteners, cut edges, welds, and assembly interfaces. Salt-spray hours alone do not describe real service life, so state the test method and acceptance limits for red rust, blistering, adhesion, and appearance. Check galvanic contact between dissimilar metals.
Load and structural checks
Identify the load point, direction, fixture, duration, safety factor, deformation limit, and failure criteria. Static, dynamic, fatigue, impact, and misuse scenarios answer different questions. The tested configuration should match the current production model.
Keep photos, equipment details, sample identity, raw readings, and deviations with each record. Testing supports engineering judgment; it does not replace correct installation, inspection, maintenance, or market-specific compliance review.
